The HM Plant Honda race machines are derived from Honda’s production based, legendary and class-leading CBR1000RR Fireblade and the CBR600RR motorcycles, although modified to different levels depending on the Championship / Road Race regulations.
2009 saw the introduction of an all-new and world first C-ABS system designed specifically for sports bikes, available as an option on both the CBR1000RR Fireblade and the CBR600RR. This Honda developed system was designed totally with motorcycle safety on the road in mind, and has been applauded world-wide for its impressive performance and benefits to the rider on the road.
Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade
Since its launch in 1992, the Honda Fireblade has been the benchmark for litre-class sportsbikes. Designed by a team led by the legendary Tadao Baba, the original CBR900RR took the concept of ‘light is right’ to produce a blisteringly fast 893cc machine with the weight and handling of a 600 Supersport machine.
Over the last 16 years the Fireblade has been further developed to keep itself ahead of its rivals. In recent years the bike has notched up a number of race successes, including Ryuichi Kiyonari’s 2006/2007 British Superbike titles with HM Plant Honda, James Toseland’s 2007 World Superbike title as well as taking a number of wins during the Isle of Man TT Centenary races last year, where John McGuinness pushed the lap record past 130mph!
McGuinness says of the CBR1000RR: “The Fireblade is so dependable and reliable – but also so very quick! It’s an amazing machine in race trim, but I’ve also ridden a few road CBRs around the Island and they’re very special too. What I like about them is that Honda seems to make a chassis which allows you to use the power of the Fireblade. The whole bike is so very useable compared to the competition.”
The latest generation CBR1000RR Fireblade features improvements filtered down from Honda’s race programmes in both World Superbikes and MotoGP.
The 9th Generation ‘Blade was launched in early 2008 with media, racers and road riding customers all in awe of this machines versatile performance and ease of riding, whatever its use.
Winning an impressive list of awards in 2008, the latest ‘Blade still remains the leader in its class having also won the Fast Bikes Sports Bike of the Year Award two years in succession, in both 2008 and 2009.
Honda CBR600RR
The CBR600 is one of the world’s most enduring motorcycles.
The CBR600RR-9 is the latest in a long line of CBRs, stretching back to the first CBR600FH, which was launched way back in 1987. Estimates put the number of CBR600s sold since 1987 at more than half a million, making it one of the most successful sportsbikes ever and the most successful middleweight sportsbike in the world! In the UK today, it’s thought that more than 45,000 new and used CBR600s are in use, proving that the CBR provides performance and practicality along with Honda’s utter dependability.
In racing, the CBR600 family has won nine of the last 16 British Supersport titles, most recently with Cal Crutchlow in 2006, while in the fiercely-competitive World Supersport championship the Ten Kate CBR600RR has dominated – winning every World Supersport title since 2002!
Every model of CBR600 has kept pace with development and the latest model is one of the most hi-tech sports 600s every made - perfectly poised for either knee down race track riding or every day road riding.
