After a sell out night for the Nick Crowe and Mark Cox fundraising evening in August the money has finally been counted and received from the generous auction lot bidders and raffle ticket buyers, with the superb total of £11,630.23 being raised. This came down to the hard work, dedication and the generous donations in prizes and money on the evening. The money will be split between both Nick and Mark equally for providing essential equipment to enable them to lead as normal a life possible following their accident in the Sidecar race at this year's Isle of Man TT.
With 300 guests on the evening and everyone in good spirits, Larry Carter and Jack Burnicle got the night underway with a rider chat show, with TT heroes on comedy form including John McGuinness, Steve Plater, Ian Hutchinson and British stars Stuart Easton, Dan Linfoot and James Westmoreland.
With auction and raffle items still piling through the door late into the evening the auction soon got underway and some of the fantastic and unique prizes went under the hammer. Some of the bigger money making auction items included £500 for a signed Colin Edwards replica Arai Helmet and £500 for a BBC Shirt signed by Agostini, Rossi and Parrish.
Hospitality donated by HM Plant, Hydrex Honda and MSS Kawasaki also proved a big hit for the buying crowd. Numerous signed and framed pictures got the bidding going and soon the tally was going up.
The unique and very rare TT winner's watch kindly donated by Graham-London met its reserve price of £2750. This extremely rare item, only one of 15 and one which could only have been won at this year's TT was bid for by Steve Plater on behalf of one of his close friends - a fantastic collector's item and a great and very welcomed item to the auction list.
One of the organisers, Eve Vanner, commented, "We couldn't have raised this amount of money without the time, support and generosity of all the people involved, from everyone who donated items and money to the riders who attended and all the people who helped the night run as well as it did. There are too many to list but special thanks must go to all at Honda (UK), HM Plant Honda, Arai, Graham-London, Hydrex, MSS, the Haslams and everyone else who clubbed together for this evening. Emma (Hudspeth) and I would just like to say thank you and we hope this will help the boys in their progress and road to recovery. Thank you."
