Round six of the British Motocross Championship was held at the famous Foxhill circuit near Swindon.

The track had been well prepared, and it was certain to be a scorcher in more ways than one!  CAS Honda rider Billy Mackenzie made  a confident return to the MX1 championship to continue his domination of the class after missing the previous round due to a shoulder injury sustained at the French Grand Prix.

Qualification took place early on Sunday morning and Billy finished the session on pole, ahead of Brad Anderson by nearly three seconds.
The Scottish-ace got a flying start to both races, clinching the holeshot on each occasion before settling into a rhythm to put in fast, consistent lap times. Billy pulled away from the rest of the pack with remarkable ease and went on to win both motos in style to reiterate his strength in the big class.

Billy, the reigning MX1 Champion, earned himself maximum points to extend his championship tally, and he is now an incredible 39 points ahead of James Noble, despite missing the Desertmartin round through injury. Today's result also adds to his 100% victory record with ten wins from ten starts this season.

The team now head back to their base in Belgium to prepare for the  World Championship round this coming weekend at Lommel.  It now seems that Billy is pain free and the 24-year-old will be able to ride during the week to improve his bike fitness, which should further improve his performance at Grand Prix level.  Teammate Steve Boniface is also looking forward to a return to fitness following the sickness bug he encountered in South Africa, and will join the CAS Honda Team at Lommel this weekend.

Comments from the days racing:
Neil Prince: "This was another great performance by Billy today, he was consistent and smooth and showed his dominance of the MX1 class once again."

Billy Mackenzie "My riding today was good, the track was great, and it was a bonus to see plenty of spectators turn out for a cracking days racing. We now head onto Lommel and I'm looking forward to riding with my improved fitness !"
