Since the release of its first outboard engine, the GB30, in 1964, Honda has committed itself to the development and production of environmentally-responsible 4-stroke outboard engines. Honda’s founder, Soichiro Honda, strongly believed that discharging oil into the water was bad for everyone - the water itself, the fish that lived in the water and the rice which grew in the water - and took on the long-term challenge of overcoming the difficulties of size, weight and lubrication inherent in the development of a 4-stroke outboard engine. Following in Mr. Honda’s footsteps, Honda Marine today remains the leader in environmentally-responsible four-stroke outboard engine technology.

Honda (UK) launched the Honda Formula 4-Stroke powerboat series in the UK in 1999 as a means of proving the performance of the then newly launched BF130 4-stroke outboard engine.

Since this time, HF4S has grown to be the largest off-shore powerboat championship in the world and has fundamentally changed the competition and appeal of powerboat racing in the UK. This incredible achievement is testament to the significance of the series and also Honda’s marine products in helping to produce some of the best powerboat racing in the world today.

Headed by eight-times Class 1 World Powerboat Champion, Steve Curtis MBE, this year’s HF4S Championship looks set to provide even more exciting action on the water for race spectators as well as viewers across the globe.
